DRAMA & FICTION CINEMATOGRAPHY

Cinematography is more than just capturing images; it is about translating a narrative into a distinct visual language. By exploring the balance between traditional film craft and modern innovation, I ensure that every frame serves the emotional core of the story.

1. Drama & Fiction Cinematography - Visual Storytelling

I believe that every unique script must dictate the visual language of the film. As a Director of Photography, my role is to translate narrative emotion into light, shadow, and composition, ensuring the cinematography serves the story above all else.

2. Nordic Light as a Narrative Compass

My approach is intrinsically linked to the name of my own company: "Nordic Light Cinematography AB". It is more than a title; it is a guiding principle. Drawing from the honesty and subtle contrasts of the northern hemisphere, I bring a specific 'Nordic' sensibility to drama -characterised by an atmospheric use of natural light and a deep respect for the 'blue hour'.

In fiction, this means I avoid a fixed personal 'style'. Instead, I seek the emotional truth of each scene. By balancing narrative lighting with character-driven aesthetics, I create a visual universe that amplifies the director’s vision. Whether capturing gritty urban realism or intimate period drama, the light should feel like a natural extension of the character’s internal journey.

3. Precision in Pre-production: AI-Driven Previs

In modern film production, time and clarity are a DP's most valuable assets. To bridge the gap between vision and execution, I integrate advanced AI-previsualisation into my workflow. Utilising state-of-the-art tools like Google AI (Veo 3.1) and Nano Banana, I develop dynamic storyboards and moving moodboards long before the first unit arrives on set.

This integration is not about replacing the craft, but about empowering it. For a producer, this offers immense production efficiency and security; we can test angles, lighting setups, and blocking digitally, minimising uncertainty and maximising the artistic output during principal photography. This is where technical innovation meets cinematic excellence.

4. Collaboration: The Director’s Ally

Cinematography is a conversation. I pride myself on being a director’s closest ally, offering the technical expertise and artistic intuition required to elevate a script from the page to the screen. My experience in complex international environments has taught me to be both adaptable and decisive, ensuring a seamless collaboration from the first treatment to the final grade.

purpose and… story..."
